Kleinostheim - March 28, 2019. The Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) has now granted the UTA One® toll box approval for Germany. This will enable UNION TANK Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG (UTA) to connect the German toll context within a few weeks to its interoperable toll solution, which was specially developed for the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS). So far, UTA One® is accepted in Belgium plus the Liefkenshoektunnel, France, Italy, Austria, Poland (A4), Portugal and Spain.
"We are pleased that our on-board unit (OBU) has finally been approved for the German toll system," says Volker Huber, CEO at UTA. "UTA One® is thus covering nine toll contexts in eight European countries." The trend is rising, as the service will gradually be extended to other European countries as soon as their toll systems are opened for the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS). The activation of the German toll context is made using an over-the-air update.
