Bucharest – 20/11/2015. Established in 1963 and based in Kleinostheim/Main, Germany, UTA provides full-service cards for transporters of commercial goods and passengers. UTA cards ensure multi-brand and cashless refueling and en-route services at over 51.000 affiliated acceptance points in 40 European countries, as well as toll settlement, workshop services, emergency breakdown and towing services, as well as many other vehicle-related expenses.
Additionally, UTA provides essential services such as reimbursement of international VAT and fuel taxes, helping transporters optimize their cash flow.
UTA currently serves more than 81.000 client companies and has issued over 1 million cards and other acceptance media, for whom it ensures a comprehensive network of acceptance for truck-suited filling stations in Europe.
UTA has approximately 400 employees and processes more than 3 million card transactions each month. With an annual turnover of approximately 3 Billion € in 2014, the company is 51% owned by founding families, 34% by Edenred SA and 15% by Daimler AG.
The UTA cards and services are targeted for both large fleet operators, as well as for smaller fleets, for which the cards ensure fueling and service autonomy independently of any brands everywhere in Europe.
Transport companies can gain significant economies of scale via the UTA cards and services, using it for economical refueling. Equally important, UTA cards bring better payment terms for transporters - a biweekly invoice for all their vehicle related expenses, payable in RON or EUR.
Additionally, UTA Drive & Save®, the fleet management solution, allows clients to maximize cost control, with detailed cost-reports, extensive consumption-analyses and early warning system as a controlling tool.
“Romania is a high potential market, with a large number of companies which perform transportation of goods and passengers, locally and internationally. Romanian transport companies have a solid reputation and offer competitive services for international transport.
As one of the leading fuel card and service card providers in Europe, we have been surveying the development of the Romanian market. Following our partnership with the Edenred Group, which acquired a 34% participation in UTA in 2014, we gained a unique foothold in Romania and decided to leverage Edenred’s B2B expertise on the Romanian market and start operations here. We have a strong ambition on the Romanian market and we will dedicate all the necessary resources to reach it.”, said Mr. Volker Huber, CEO of UTA (UNION TANK Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG) in a press conference announcing the launch of Romanian operations.
UTA cards have a wide multi-brand acceptance network in Romania, as well as in 39 other countries in Europe. UTA cards are accepted in more than 430 points in Romania. Affiliated stations include Lukoil, MOL, OMV, Gazprom, as well as many independent stations.
“Based on UTA’s over 50 years of experience and international strength, combined with Edenred’s B2B leadership in Romania, we believe that UTA can bring superior, customer-oriented services for Romanian transport companies. The UTA cards ensure full autonomy across Europe independently of any brands for all types of commercial transporters – smaller fleets, as well as large ones. There are approximately 30 000 companies in Romania which supply transport of commercial goods and passengers, and we aim to become one of their preferred suppliers within the next 3 years”, stated Vianney du Parc, Managing Director of Edenred Romania.
